BEAUTY BRANDS SALON•SPA•SUPERSTORE CELEBRATES OPENING OF 50th LOCATION WITH NEW STRATEGY FOR GROWTH

The Kansas City-Based Company Is Well On Its Way To Becoming A National Brand

From Dallas to Des Moines to Denver, people know Beauty Brands Salon•Spa•Superstore. The company opened its first location in Overland Park, Kan. in 1995, and recently celebrated the grand opening of its 50th location in Clive, Iowa, a suburb of Des Moines.

Beauty Brands, the brainchild of Bob Bernstein, took the beauty retail industry by storm 12 years ago by introducing the revolutionary concept of a full-service salon and spa within a dynamic retail environment, providing one-stop convenience for both high-quality products and services. Each location employs approximately 30 salon professionals and sales associates, and offers more than 10,000 salon-quality products. Today, there exists no direct competitor to the Beauty Brands concept.

“From day one, Beauty Brands has planned to be a national brand. Our team is meticulous about selecting the right markets and locations, and we feel we have based our business on a solid model,” said David Bernstein, Chief Operating Officer for Beauty Brands Salon•Spa•Superstore.

In 2007 the company has opened four locations in as many states. A fifth location in a fifth state is planned to open late in the year. The company’s decision to open a new location is based on customer convenience and market growth. Today the company’s growth strategy focuses on entering new markets with several locations at once, as well as opening new locations in markets where Beauty Brands already does business.

“The Beauty Brands concept is based on making people feel good about themselves and increasing self-esteem,” said Robert Bernstein, president of Beauty Brands. “From experience we know that the key to our marketing is word of mouth, so our primary goal is to ensure that customers enjoy a positive experience, which leads us to emphasize operations and great customer service.” (more) Beauty Brands Celebrates 50th Location With Strategy For Growth – Page Two

Some notable facts: • In 2001 the company introduced its Reduce Abuse program to benefit domestic violence shelters in the communities where it does business. To date, the program has raised more than $275,000 for more than 25 domestic violence shelters in 11 states. • In 2007 the company launched a new marketing campaign, bringing a new look and feel to all its locations. • Kansas City has been a good testing ground for the company, having been the site of the company’s first urban location, first in-line location and first regional location. Today the company operates 12 locations in Greater Kansas City.

Beauty Brands’ 50th location is situated at 10001 University Avenue (northwest of West Valley Mall) in Clive, Iowa. The new 6,500-square foot location marks the company’s first location in Greater Des Moines, and additional locations are being planned for that market.

Beauty Brands plans to open six to eight new locations in 2008.

Headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., Beauty Brands operates 50 locations in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas. For more information please visit www.beautybrands.com.
