Beauty Brands Celebrates Opening of State-of-the-Art Distribution Center in Lenexa
Grand Opening Celebration To Be Held March 24 from 4-6 p.m.
Distributing thousands of salon-quality products to 40 locations in nine states just became a lot easier for Kansas City-based Beauty Brands SalonSpaSuperstore. The company will celebrate the grand opening of its 120,000 square foot distribution center at 15501 W. 99th Street in Lenexa with tours and festivities on Thursday, March 24 from 4-6 p.m. Media is invited to attend the invitation-only event, which includes tours beginning at 4 p.m. followed by refreshments and acknowledgements at 5 p.m.
Beauty Brands introduces a revolutionary concept in the beauty industry: a full-service salon and spa within a dynamic retail environment, providing one-stop convenience for both high-quality products and services. The company operates 40 locations nationwide, including 11 locations in the Greater Kansas City area.
The state-of-the-art distribution center resides in the former Westlake Hardware warehouse and employs approximately 23 people. The center operates using an intuitive conveyance system that is completely automated developed by the Siggins Co. The center relies on Intek sophisticated software to run the center and employs RF handheld computers to input data. In addition, the center features a high-tech "pick to light" system provided by IPTI that uses guiding lights to assist pickers in pulling products from shelves. Consultants from Garvey Associates assisted with the overall project management. Because of its state-of-the-art system, Intek chose Kansas City and the Beauty Brands distribution center as the site for its upcoming annual users conference.
Beauty Brands worked closely with the Lenexa fire department and a team of architects and engineers to design the first building in Lenexa to include a liquid fire containment room. This fire containment room is consistent with the newest building codes in Lenexa.

Beauty Brands operates three locations in Johnson County, Kan. including Lenexa, Olathe and Overland Park. The company operates 11 stores in the Greater Kansas City area.
